When we got to the hospital at 6 pm Claudia's contractions had gone worse. Every 3 or 4 minutes the pain kicked in, and it was difficult for her to breath. The midwife who examined my wife said that it wouldn't take much longer, and they called the doctor to inform him they would commence delivery. Around 7 pm we started huffing and puffing like we learned at the pregnancy course and I massaged her back while we tried to concentrate on our breathing. And suddenly it was over. The doctor came, the midwife asked for one last big push and Caitlin was born. I cut the umbilical cord, our daughter was wrapped in blankets and put in my arms. The emotions and feelings when holding such a small miracle are indescribable.

Unfortunately the doctor didn't manage to remove Claudia's placenta in a natural way, so she was sedated and they had to take it out with more force. But half an hour later she was awake holding Caitlin in her arms. We put on the new Enya cd (And Winter came) and enjoyed this wonderful moment together.
